Suzann Pettersen and Justin Leonard at Nike Golf PGA Merchandise Show Demo Day

by Bob Diercksmeier on February 2, 2010

Last week I had the pleasure of attending the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando Florida, which took place over 4 days — the first day (Wednesday) was the outdoor demo day at the Orange County National Golf Center, and the following three days of the indoor show were at the Orange County Convention Center. I was there for the outdoor demo day on Wednesday and first day of the indoor show on Thursday.

At the outdoor demo day I spent a majority of my time at the Nike Golf booth (big surprise), where they had many of their new clubs available for attendees to try out. Nike was featuring their new SQ MachSpeed line, including driver, fairway woods, hybrids and irons, and their Victory Red line including the new VR-STR8-FIT driver and fairway woods, the new VR hybrids, and the VR irons and wedges that were released last year. At the separate putting area they were featuring the new METHOD putter.

One of the highlights of the day was a visit to the demo area by Nike Golf athletes Suzanne Pettersen and Justin Leonard. I was able to sit in the front row and watch Justin and Suzann as they discussed the new Nike Golf equipment and how it has helped their respective games. As they talked they hit balls, and as always it was amazing (and slightly depressing) to witness how purely and crisply the pros strike the ball. Also at the demo was Tom Stites, Nike Golf’s Director of Product Creation, who explained much of the technology behind Nike Golf’s new lines of clubs (very interesting as you’ll see in the video segments below). I was able to shoot video of the whole demo, as well as some still photos.

I have edited the video footage into 17 shorter segments in which Suzanne and Justin discuss different topics, and I outline these below and provide links to the videos. With the exception of the first video I am providing links to the videos, and not embedding them to keep page load time to a minimum. Below the videos are the photos I took of the demo. I hope the videos and photos give you a sense of how interesting this Nike Golf demo was and how much fun it was to be there. Enjoy!
