my tour of The Oven last week it was really interesting to learn how involved Nike Golf athletes are in the testing of new equipment. Nike Golf actively seeks feedback from their athletes on of new club and ball designs, and athletes routinely visit The Oven to test equipment and give their opinions on new prototypes. It’s common to see athletes such as Justin Leonard, Stewart Cink, Paul Casey, Lucas Glover and more in the labs and on the range testing new equipment at the R&D facility. The Oven staff works closely with these athletes to hone their club and ball designs for tour use and for production of clubs for the retail market.
This was evident last week when the PGA Tour was in town for the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial, when several of Nike’s athletes stopped by The Oven to test new equipment designs. Last week Nike Golf tweeted out the photos below, showing Justin Leonard testing balls, Lucas Glover testing new prototype irons, and Paul Casey and Stewart Cink testing other prototype clubs. This tour-level feedback on prototypes is a critical step in the creation of the successful club designs that come out of The Oven. And from these photos, it looks like there are more great things to come from Nike Golf soon!
