UPDATE 11.17.10 11:40 A.M. MST: Here it is, Tiger’s second tweet on the day:
With one single, short tweet, Tiger has taken over a large part of golf — and non-golf — conversations on Twitter today:
As soon as the tweet appeared, the conversation started, and it’s only picking up steam. Check out this feed showing the discussion at BunkerShot.com. “Tiger Woods” hasn’t started trending yet on Twitter (I just checked), but I don’t think that will take long considering the discussion taking place. This is just an indicator of the interest created by even the smallest of actions by the world’s most famous golfer. This is already a news story on many golf and non-golf web sites, and I’ll bet it will be mentioned on today’s Golf Central on The Golf Channel.
As you can see from the screen cap above this only Tiger’s fourth tweet from his official Twitter account (it’s a Twitter-verified account, see top right of the screen cap), however he did do a 30-minute Q&A on Twitter through Nike Golf’s Twitter account back in September. It will be interesting to see if Tiger continues to use Twitter, and if so how? Will it be quick, one-off statements like the one today or will he actually engage any of his fans on Twitter in actual conversations? One thing is for sure — when he sends his next tweet it’s sure to send the conversations on Twitter into another frenzy.
