Nike Golf has a new video on their YouTube channel about the new Method Core putter that will be in retail stores on March 3rd, 2011. In this video hear the inventor of Nike’s Method putter David Franklin, along with Nike athletes Suzann Pettersen, Justin Leonard, Paul Casey, Stewart Cink and Lucas Glover give their thoughts on this new putter design, which incorporates Nike’s Polymetal Groove technology that has been so successful in the Method milled putter. The Method Core incorporates the grooves into an insert, rather than directly in the face itself as they are in the Method milled. This has made production less expensive, thus the retail price for the Method Core will be $130, almost half of the Method milled putter’s price tag of $250.
Paul Casey has already won with the Method Core in his bag, so we’ll need to see if any of the other Nike athletes make the switch. It will be especially interesting to see if Stewart Cink or Lucas Glover makes the switch, seeing as they have already won majors with the Method milled. From the looks of the video (and my talk with Rob Berbick in the tour van, see minute mark 11:25 of this video) Lucas may have already put the Method Core in his bag. Enjoy!
