Coming off of a final round 66 and Top 10 at Doral, The King of Bay Hill returns.Didn’t play last year, but went 1, 1, 22, 20, 23, 46, 1, 1, 1, 1 before after Y2K. I may make the case that Tiger’s best chance of winning is here and not at Augusta.
Cink has a pretty good record here too. 6th in 2000, 15th in ’02, 2nd in ’03, 8ths in ’05. 59th last year and 30ths in 2009. He’s also coming off of a strong T11 last weekend.
Ames actually has a really good record here. In 10 appearances he’s only missed 1 cut, has 3 Top 10’s and had a T30 last year. Not bad!Ames barely missed the cut last week.
26th in the world is playing some good golf. He played here last year with a T52 but he’s on fire. In 9 events, dating back to November 2010, he has 9 Top 25’s, 5 Top 10’s, and 1 win. Whew. Straight cash, homey.
other Nike athletes to choose from :: Jhonattan Vegas, Carl pettersson and Justin Leonard
recent finishes – T5 Transitions, T10 WGC Caddy
Lookin good, Lairdy. 74th last year.
recent finishes – 2nd Transitions, T24 Honda, T8 Phoenix
Very strong finishes for Webb against very strong fields. He also has a good record at Bay Hill; 11th in ’09 and T31 in ’08. Not bad, kid!
recent finishes – T5 Match Play, T12 Northern Trust, T13 AT&T PB, T5, Phoenix
Holmes was on a hot streak..so he took a month off? His record keeps improving at Bay Hill. 59th in ’08, 40th in ’09 and 21st last year. Sleeper cell.
recent finishes – 1st Transitions, T6 Honda, T5 AT&T PB, T5 Phoenix
He kind of reminds me of Jeff Overton’s hot streak last year. Hasn’t played here before.
looking at 2000-2010
best finishes – 4th in ’06, T11 in ’09, T14 in ’10
My other sleeper for the week. Pair his history with his recent finishes (T15 at WGC Caddy, T21 at Honda, T4 at Northern Trust) and I think it could be a big week for The RA.
best finishes – 2nd in ’09, 3rd in ’08, T14 in ’07, T21 in ’10
This is one of the best sites for Sean. He missed the cut in ’06, but has done a great job here. Mahan and Watney have stepped it up, now it’s O’Hair’s turn. Coming off a a MC at Transitions, but should rebound well.
best finishes – 1st in ’04, 8th in ’05, 17th in ’06, 21 in ’09, 22nd in ’07 and ’09
8 appearances, 6 Top 25’s. Riding a streak of 6 straight Top 25’s here. 22, 21, 22, 17, 8, 1. Coming off of back-to-back Top 30’s at the Transitions and Honda. Not bad at all.
best finishes – 1st in ’07, 2nd in ’05, 3rd in ’08, 4th in ’01, 7th in ’06
Where doesn’t Vijay have history? Coming off of a T51 at the Transitions. But still only has 1 MC all year in 8 events.
Alan :: Webb Simpson, Dustin Johnson, Kevin Na and Tiger Woods
Bob :: Brandt Snedeker, Dustin Johnson, Stewart Cink and Tiger Woods
Damian :: Ian Poulter, Hunter Mahan, J.B. Holmes and Tiger Woods
Phil’s record here isn’t that great. I’d really like to see Tiger get the win here, with Mahan and McDowell coming down to the end. I’m sure DJ will be a very popular pick, along with Tiger.
I think the most popular Fantasy Four will be:: Dustin Johnson, Hunter Mahan, Graeme McDowell and Tiger Woods.
I think I’ll start publishing the ‘consensus fantasy four’ on Thursday morning.
Other big names in the field :: Phil Mickelson, Graeme McDowell, Justin Rose, Dustin Johnson, Ernie Els, Zach Johnson, Brandt Snedeker, Mattero Mannassero, Edoardo Molinari, Rickie Fowler, Jim Furyk, Ian Poulter, Bubba Watson, Ryan Moore, Bill Haas, Camilo Villegas, Jeff Overton, Mark Wilson, Ryo Ishikawa
