****UPDATE Friday 8:31 ADT – Sorry, folks. There will be no Round 2 Live Blog ****
Well, round 1 is in the books and for the most part I’m going to refer you to our Round 1 Live Blog. We followed from 9:45am – 6:45pm for the most part. Here, I’ll just hit the highlights for each athlete under their Round 2 Tee Times.
All times are shown in EDT.
T7 :: Charl Schwartzel :: 69 :: -3
Charl had 3 birdies, 1 eagle and 2 bogeys. Charl bogeyed the 18th hole, but that was the 2nd toughest hole all day. Great round for Charl.
T75 :: Lucas Glover :: 75 :: +3
5 bogeys, 2 birdies. 4 of those bogeys were on the front 9 (and the birdies. Lucas needs to improve on that tomorrow.
T49 :: Anthony Kim :: 73 :: +1
AK got off to a rough start, but had a somewhat typical AK round. 4 bogeys, 1 double bogey, 5 birdies. I was worried AK would come undone since he was frustrated after the first 9, but put together a streak of 3 straight birdies for 13, 14, 15. Just like Vegas and Tiger, AK bogeyed the 18th hole. He should get it together for tomorrow.
T14 :: Paul Casey :: 70 :: -2
Paul battled like a champion this round. 2 birdies, 2 bogeys on the front round. Birdied the 10th, birdied 13, bogeyed 14, then birdied 15, 16 and 17. Wooooo yeah. Big round from Paul.
T31 :: Jhonattan Vegas :: 72 :: E
5 birdies, 1 eagle and a bunch of bogeys and a double. Vegas had a streak of 3 straight bogeys on the front 9, but went -4 thru 3 straight holes on the back. Really great sign from the rookie as he battled back strong.
T75 :: Francesco Molinari :: 75 :: +3
Solid front 9 for Francesco; 4 birdies and 3 bogeys. However, the back 9 was double bogey and a pair of bogeys. Keep the birdies, lose the bogeys, bro!
T24 :: Tiger Woods :: 71 :: -1
Tiger could have probably gone to -4 today. He missed 3 good chances at birdie on the back 9. Tiger is close. Seeing him rip 3 woods was beautiful. Tiger was really happy with his round and he’s just setting himself up to be in contention.
