Yes, it was a mere two years ago that I launched NG Nation with this humble, cheesily-titled post. And a lot has happened in those two years — NG Nation has steadily grown in readership, and I’ve had the chance to interact with many of our readers here on the blog in the comments and via the emails I’ve received from our contact form, and it’s been fun to get to know some of you. NG Nation also added Damian Daniels (who incidentally was our first commenter here on the blog) as our Athletes and Fantasy Four Editor, and Alan Numsuwan as our Footwear and Apparel Editor — their unique voices, viewpoints and contributions to the blog over the past year have been invaluable, and they have added tremendously to the content our readers experience here on NG Nation.
Last year we launched our Fantasy Four contest, and reader participation in the contest has steadily grown over the last 12 months, thanks in large part to the hard work of Damian Daniels. We’ve given away many dozens of Nike golf balls, several pairs of Nike Golf shoes, a VR STR8-FIT Tour driver, an SQ MachSpeed driver, and a second SQ MachSpeed driver is up for grabs in the second half of this year’s Fantasy Four Season (the prizes have been generously donated by Nike Golf for our contest, and I thank them for that!). NG Nation and its editors have been active on Twitter over the past two years, and you can find links to our Twitter accounts in the right sidebar if you’d like to follow us for more information about Nike Golf. And we finally launched our Facebook page this year, where you’ll find additional Nike Golf-related content, so please “Like” our page if you haven’t already.
I personally have been able to attend several PGA Tour events over the past two years including three majors (one Masters, two U.S. Opens) to watch the Nike Golf Athletes live in action. I’ve had the opportunity to visit the Nike Golf tour van a couple of times (posts here and here), and last year I got to visit The Oven in Fort Worth. This year I was invited to attend the launch of Nike’s new 20XI golf ball where I was able to meet Anthony Kim and Francesco Molinari in person.
Much of NG Nation’s success over the past two years has been made possible by the wonderful staff at Nike Golf, and I must share that they are some of the coolest people I have ever met. Everyone I’ve met so far at Nike Golf has been not only experts in their specific discipline at Nike Golf, but they have also been super nice and down-to-earth, and it’s been a great experience meeting and interacting with the great people from Nike Golf World HQ, The Oven, the PGA Merchandise Show and their PGA Tour Van. My sincerest thanks go out to Nike Golf for the information, assistance and support they have provided to NG Nation and me over the last two years of growing the blog to where it is now.
Thanks also go to the loyal readers of NG Nation, and you know who you are, the Nike Golf fans who check the blog on a regular basis and read our stuff. Without you NG Nation wouldn’t be what it is today.
My sincere thanks also go out to Damian and Alan, whose tireless efforts here on the blog speak for themselves, and are most appreciated by me. Thanks brothers for sharing the journey — and the workload — with me!
Last but certainly not least, thanks go to my family, whose patience with me while I was spending the time (and many a late night) starting this blog in the first year and growing it in the second was unmatched, and so very much appreciated. And thanks for the cakes on both the first birthday and today on the second (pictured above)!
The last two years have personally been a blast for me, it’s been really fun sharing my love for all things Nike Golf. My goals for the blog have not changed, bringing the passion I have for Nike Golf equipment, athletes, footwear and apparel to our readers and to my fellow Nike Golf enthusiasts. This truly is the (unofficial) fan blog by and for fans of Nike Golf, and I look forward to the next two years (and more) of sharing more of the same. Thanks again, and I hope you’ll all continue on the journey with me.
