Awesome opening day at Congressional. This leaderboard has the World’s best spread all over the leaderboard. Here’s the Nike golf athletes and how they fared in day 1 at Congressional;
T2 :: Charl Schwartzel :: -3
Charl had 4 birdies on the front 9 and 1 bogey on the back nine. That’s a solid 68. He’s tied with Yang, who had 5 birdies and 2 bogeys.
Round 2 – Group 13 @ 8:06am from Tee 1 with Trevor Immelman and Zach Johnson
T10 :: Stewart Cink :: -1
Cink didn’t feel great about his game, but still came out under par. With 4 birdies and 3 bogeys, Cink finished and started strong. He started with 2 straight birdies, then 2 bogeys to finish his first 9 holes. However, his 2nd 9 was bogey free with 2 birdies. Great way to finish his round.
Round 2 – Group 35 @ 1:24pm from Tee 1 with Padraig Harrington and Angel Cabrera
T45 :: Paul Casey :: +2
Casey was off early from the first tee and started bogey-bogey. He finished on the 18th hole with a bogey, too. I think he did well to come out with a +2, but he should do much better tomorrow.
Round 2 – Group 36 @ 1:24pm from Tee 10 with Matt Kuchar and K.J. Choi
T62 :: Anthony Kim :: +3
Not a bad score today. AK started off the day with a double bogey and followed it up with a birdie on the 13th hole. If you take away that very first hole, he shot +1 for the day, so I would expect a round of even par tomorrow for AK.
Round 2 – Group 37 @ 1:35pm from Tee 1 with Ryo Ishikawa and Y.E. Yang
T84 :: Francesco Molinari :: +4
I was talking with Mosher and the first thing I said to him was “Molinari was -2 thru 2”. He said “I saw he was -3 thru 6!” That’s too bad about the rest of his round, as he bogeyed 7 of the last 12 holes. He should rebound well tomorrow.
Round 2 – Group 12 @ 7:55am from Tee 10 with Edoardo Molinari and Matteo Manassero
T111 :: Lucas Glover :: +5
3 birdies, 6 bogeys, 1 double. Tough day. I hope he can rebound!
Round 2 – Group 15 @ 8:17am from Tee 1 with Nick Watney and Geoff Ogilvy
