Okay NG Nation readers, please don’t hate me — a package arrived today from Nike Golf containing a pair of the custom Lunar Controls for the 2011 PGA Championship. This version is the latest installment in the series of “Limited Edition Lunar Controls for the 2011 Majors”, and it completes the foursome along with the Masters, U.S. Open and Open Championship versions.
The PGA Championship Lunar Control is really impressive in person, and the pictures don’t do this shoe design justice (see gallery below). The shoe features a great implementation of the blue and gold colors associated with the PGA Championship, including a royal blue Lunarlon midsole with gold accents, gold and navy sole with gold and black Scorpion Stinger spikes, navy saddle with royal blue Flywire fibers, gold swooshes on the side and gold embroidered swooshes on the tongue and heel. The shoe comes laced with navy laces, and there’s a spare pair of white laces to give the top of the shoe an all-white look if preferred (I prefer the contrast of the navy laces myself).
This is one handsome shoe design, and really shows the creativity of Nike Golf’s Footwear team and how they incorporate the different design details of each major championship into the existing Lunar Control shoe design. Nike Golf gave away several pairs of the custom PGA Championship Lunar Controls in a contest yesterday on Twitter, but unfortunately this shoe will not be sold on nikestore.com (I bought the U.S. Open and Open Championship versions after receiving the Masters version from Nike Golf).
I’ll be doing a wrap-up post about all four pairs of Limited Edition Lunar Controls for the 2011 Majors some time in the near future, so keep an eye out for that. And a big thank you to Nike Golf for including me in their giveaway of this awesome shoe.

You should send a few pair my way,
Very jealous! I was one of the first to reply during their twitter contest giveaway, but never got a pair! Damn those are beautiful.
