The rumblings about the new 2012 Nike Golf equipment line are circulating on the Internet. So far, here’s what I gather, but of course, these are just rumors, so take them for what they are:
Vr Split Cavity Set
It’s not a huge surprise that Nike would do this, as Stewart Cink and Stephen Ames have been carrying a full set of splits. I think fans of the original split cavity set will appreciate this move. Word on the street is that 5-PW will be a split cavity with the 3 and 4 iron remaining a pocket cavity like the Pro Combos.
More Method Putters
With the addition of Suzann Pettersen’s new Method Drone high-MOI putter, the Method line is expanding. According to rumors, the Drone and at least one other Method putter will be introduced in 2012. Expectations are that it will be another mallet.
Bye bye SQ Machspeed. Make way for more expansion out of the Vr line. That would mean no more SQ Machspeed Black, and no more Machspeed Irons (Vr Pro Cavity seems to be the alternative/better choice, right?). I guess the Forged Machspeed irons won’t make it stateside then (I know some folks in the US were hoping for those…).
New Changes to Adjustment
Str8-Fit seems like it’s going to be getting a bit of an enhancement. Whereas, all adjustments were made at the hosel and tip, the adjustibility is now rumored to be made through the sole of the club. If I understand this correctly, it will be like Cobra’s S3 and ZL line, which likely will mean more customization for players – always a good thing.
