With preparations for The Presidents Cup underway for Nike’s most famous and successful golf athlete, Tiger Woods will play the Frys.com Open in California the first week of October. His participation at the Frys.com Open will mark his first time competing in the PGA Tour’s Fall Series. For me, this is a welcomed surprise since I always miss having TW in competition in the fall when many of the top pros call it quits. I’d also like to see how well he plays right before The Presidents Cup in Australia.
“I always enjoy competing in my home state, and this tournament fits my schedule perfectly,” Woods said Monday on his website. “I’m looking forward to seeing some old friends.”
Conveniently, TW’s alma mater Stanford, has a home football game against Colorado the week of the tournament. With Palo Alto only a short drive (or helicopter ride) from the site of The Frys.com Open, I would expect Tiger to make an appearance.
