Just a quick note for those of you who are following the Presidents Cup live. Tiger Woods just won 4&3 over Aaron Baddeley to clinch a victory for Team USA. Tiger and Aaron battled through the first four holes with Tiger just missing some key putts. He was able to turn it on on the fifth and sixth holes with consecutive birdies to go 2-up. Woods drained another putt on the 10th hole and then Baddeley started hitting it wayward, finding some native areas and thick rough. He was able to get one back on the par-3 14th hole when Tiger found the trap off the tee, but ultimately Tiger’s steady play closed it out for the match and for the Americans.
Three quick observations:
- Tiger’s lag putting all week was very impressive, especially on the fast greens in Royal Melbourne
- His iron striking was great all week, and we got to see him hit flush irons shots just like the Tiger of old. My favorite was a 190 yd 8-iron that he put on a green in two on Saturday.
- The stinger appears to be back. Tiger was nailing his 2-iron Vr-s forged no higher than 20 feet off the ground and ripping it about 260 yards into headwind. Great to have the shot back in his arsenal.
TW also continued to wear the Nike Free Prototype golf shoe specially designed for him. No USA colorway though, but clearly he feels like it is Tour worthy.
Congrats again to Tiger and Team USA.
