I was pleasantly surprised today when I got home from work today, as there was a box on my front porch from Nike Golf (always a nice surprise to come home to). I quickly opened it and was really excited to see a pair of the new 2012 Limited Edition Open Championship Lunar Control golf shoes inside. I was pumped because earlier in the week I had gone online to buy a pair, but couldn’t find one in my size (14).
Like last year’s Open Championship version, this year’s offering is a beautiful shoe, a real work of craftsmanship. I really like the continuation of the navy blue leather from the saddle back to the heel, and the wingtip stitching on the toe is very classy. The perforated leather used in the collar is butter soft, as is the smooth tan suede used for the swooshes on the side, in the inside heel and for the tag on the tongue (the tongue tag has a debossed swoosh). Other sweet details include the gold double stitching at the bottom of the laces, single gold eyelet at the top of the laces, the gold swooshes on the sole and the subtle plaid dotted line pattern in the gold section of the sole plate.
This is one classy looking shoe, and a big thanks to Nike Golf for sending me a pair. If you want to snag a pair for yourself I’d suggest hurrying before they’re all gone — last I checked on nikestore.com the sizes that were left were 10, 10.5 and 11.5. If you need a different size (this year’s model was released in sizes 6-14), you may be able to find it by searching other online golf retailers.
