Nike Creative Director Mark Smith posted these “Doernbecher Golf Chucks” via his twitter this week. For those that don’t know the Doernbecher reference is a nod to the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Oregon where Nike has a program that enables patients to design and co-create sneakers. The sales from those one-of-a-kind sneakers have raised more than $8 million that has been used towards funding researching, supporting clinical care, purchasing medical equipment, recruiting experts and helping to cover the cost of care.
Smith’s Doernbecher Golf Chucks are unique because they combine four brands under the Nike Umbrella – Converse, Nike Golf, Jordan Brand and Hurley.
The upper appears to be a Hurley camo that bears the insignia of the four brands (Nike Golf logo, Hurley logo, Jumpman, Converse logo, and a swoosh). The sole is a Lunarlon Chuck Taylor sole which I have never seen before, and the bottom is the same tread as the Nike Golf Lunar Swingtip.
