It’s Masters Week – my favorite golf week of the year, and today I’m bringing you some quick hits. Let’s get to it!
Tiger Shows up in New Old Shoes
My twitter feed blew up on Monday when Tiger was spotted wearing white golf shoes to practice. There was some speculation that it was an all-white version of the recently released TW15 (which do not come in a white colorway), but once I saw the photos I immediately knew that it was the Zoom TW from 2011. This was a big hit for Tiger as he wore this shoe for the longest stretch between models. Even when the 2012 version came out, he was still wearing the 2011 model and it was only until the 2013 Free-Inspired Prototypes came out that TW made a change. Interestingly enough, before Keegan was sponsored by Jordan Brand for his golf shoes, the Zoom TW 2012 was his particular model of choice, so go figure! Below is the original spec sheet for the Zoom TW 2011.
New Staff Bags for Nike Athletes at The Masters
No real caption needed here other than Nike created a very sleek, very cool staff bag for its athletes at the Masters in a beautiful all-white colorway and a volt-colored front panel. Here’s a look at the bags from Rory and Seung-Yul Noh
Rory Has a New Caddie for the Par 3 Tournament
If you’re following Rory’s Par 3 round and you noticed a larger crowd than normal, it might be because of his caddie. It was learned yesterday that McIlroy will have his fellow Northern Irishman and One Direction member Niall Horan caddie for him. No word on if Niall will get a chance to hit one of the shots as caddies often do, but with the crowds sitting almost on top of the greens, let’s hope that he can play.
“He’s been excited to come here,” McIlroy said with a smile. “He’s never been to the Masters. I caught up with him in Australia at the end of last year and he was really excited, and I said, ‘If you’re available Wednesday afternoon and you want to carry the bag for nine holes, you’re more than welcome.’
“He’s excited to be here and [I’m] looking forward to spending a bit of time with him out there tomorrow.”
