Yesterday, Nike Golf announced the signings of Brooks Koepka and Tony Finau via a press release. In that press release is a teaser video showcasing Koepka and Finau and capturing their thoughts on joining the Nike Golf roster. But if you look closely, you will see that Koepka is hitting wedges in what appears to be a Flyknit Chukka golf shoe.
I originally posted about this in August 2015, but with this video, it appears now to be a real thing. Here’s what I can tell you about the Flyknit Chukka:
- It very much resembles the Free Flyknit Chukka, except it has something called “Nike Skin” around the base to provide water resistance. Anyone who has owned a pair of Flyknits will know that they are not good in water whatsoever. This layer seems like a good option for damp ground.
- They have incorporated dynamic flywire into the midfoot, which has been in play since the first Lunar Control.
- Instead of spikes, they went with the Free Inspired Outsole, which you will remember from the FI Impact and FI Impact2
- So far it appears that it will come in two colorways, with the first a black and white model, and the second a blue/green colorway that will match the new Vapor Fly equipment.
