Team Nike World Golf Rankings Update as of March 12, 2013

Team Nike Match Play

It’s been a month since our last update. Since that time, we’ve had 7 PGA/European Tour events, including 2 big World Golf Championship events.

Here are some of the highlights;

  • Biggest Riser; Scott Brown after winning his first PGA Tour event, moved up 169 spots to 180th in the world.
  • Biggest Fallers; David Duval. He’s missed all 3 cuts in that span and has dropped 75 spots, mostly because he’s so low. Similarly, guys who aren’t playing, are dropping a lot. AK is still not playing and dropped 50 spots.
  • Top 50 Watch; 8 Team Nike members in the Top 50 in the world. Russ Henley moves into the Top 50 after two good WGC finishes (2nd round Match Play, T28 at Doral) and a T13 at the Honda Classic.

Here are the full, updated rankings for the Nike Golf roster.

Today Nike Golf released the official apparel scripts for all Nike Athletes, and from the looks of the scripts they’ll be looking great on the course like always. All of the athletes are scripted in apparel from Nike Golf’s Fall 2012 apparel collection, which hit retail on July 1st. And with the weather conditions of The Open Championship looking to bring rain and cold conditions the athletes will most likely wear their choice of cover-ups, sweaters or rain gear from the Fall 2012 collection.

Check out the scripts in the gallery below, and the best of luck to all of the Nike Athletes in the field on the 2012 Open Championship!

Weekend Wrap-up :: 7.24

It was a pretty big weekend for golf in general.

  • AK (Anthony Kim) had high hopes in Canada coming off of a great Open finish, but followed up his 69 with an 81. AK was also DQ’d for signing an incorrect scorecard. Try googling “Anthony Kim DQ Canadian Open” – hopefully it gets you here. That’s my joke for the day.
  • Charl Schwartzel is on a tear. He picked up his 9th Top 10 of the year. He’s played 18 events and has 2 finishes outside of the Top 30.
  • Suzann Pettersen had an emotional weekend after the attacks in Norway. However, she still dominated with a 69-68 on the weekend for a great Top 10 at the “soon to be” 5th LPGA Major (Evian Masters).
  • Scott Jamieson bounced back from his Open Championship missed cut, with a T13. That’s 3 Top 25s and 2 Top 10s in his last 5 starts.
  • Pablo Martin and Richard Finch picked up Top 10s at the same event, Nordea Masters.
  • John Cook and Bob Tway picked up some decent finishes at the Senior Open Championship. They finished 11th and T12.
  • Tommy Fleetwood also picked up a Top 10 on the European Challenge Tour. He’s sitting at 29th on the Challenge Tour Rankings…just outside the Top 25 to advance to the European Tour.
