Fall Series Fantasy Four :: Children’s Miracle Network Classic

To me, this is a Webb Simpson and Luke Donald showdown. My wet dream would be an 18-hole match play between these two. But hey, that’s what dreams are for.

This is the FINAL event of our Fall Series Fantasy Four Contest . For a refresher on the rules, hit the link — Contest Guidelines and leave your Fantasy Four below (don’t forget your ONE Nike Athlete).

  • Highest Nike Finish :: Lucas Glover (3 selections, 15th)

Low scoring week. Why did 12 of us not take Webb Simpson? I was one of them. Stupid me.

2 people had 11 points this week (1 Top 10, 3 Top 25s).

Ray Young – Webb Simpson (2), Matt Kuchar (20), Carl Pettersson (20) and Jonathan Byrd (32)
Scott A– Webb Simpson (2), Lucas Glover (15), Matt Kuchar (20) and Rickie Fowler (CUT)

Tiebreak would go to Ray Young.

Stephen Vang holds the lead. Steve Noel and Ryan Bernal round out the Top 3 that would win prizes. 1 week left!

Paul Casey
Nice T7 last week and a win the week before. First time at this event, though.

Stewart Cink
First time here. Coming off of 3 straight missed cuts.

Carl Pettersson
Cut here last year. However, his last two finishes are good. 5th at JT Shriners and 16th at the BMW Championship. Could be a good sleeper with 6 straight made cuts (finishes of 5th, 16th, 37th, 32nd, 4th and 18th).

Lucas Glover
Cut here last year. 3 of last 4 events have been Top 31′s

Stephen Ames
Missed cut last week, but Top 25 the week before that.

Joseph Bramlett
Missed cut last year. He’s getting great experience in his rookie year, honestly.

Kevin Kisner
Cut at the Frys.com, but had a Top 30 at the JT Shriners.

Justin Leonard
45th here last year, 60th last week.

David Hearn *stays from last week

9. Jeff Quinney

Alan :: Webb Simpson, Zach Johnson, David Toms, Paul Casey
Bob :: Matt Kuchar, Webb Simpson, Rickie Fowler and Paul Casey
Damian :: Matt Kuchar, Charles Howell III, Rickie Fowler and Paul Casey

Wow. Really tough choices this week. I could really take Casey AND Pettersson this week, but oh well.

How do I not take Webb Simpson???? He has a win and I think these other guys need one more. Really want to take Bo Van Pelt.

***update as of 9:37 PM ADT – I missed 8 entries on my initial post. This post has been updated and I apologize for any confusion**

Good week for Woods and Casey, methinks. Dissappointing for Cantlay, but some people were lucky enough to get 2 Top 10s and cash in some points.

Sorry for the delay. Canadian Thanksgiving!

Fall Series Fantasy Four :: Frys.com Open

Tiger’s the word this week. The other big name is Louis Oosthuizen comes from a  Top 5 at St. Andrews last week. Tiger’s coming off of a course record. Let’s go.

Paul Casey is in the field, too. Sneaky. Same with Ernie Els. There are some names this week!

This is the  2nd event of our Fall Series Fantasy Four Contest . For a refresher on the rules, hit the link — Contest Guidelines and leave your Fantasy Four below (don’t forget your ONE Nike Athlete).

Here is the recap from the last event >>

Stephen Ames
Cut here last year, but T23 in 2009 and T27 in 2007. Coming off of a Top 25 last week.

Justin Leonard
Great record here. T24 last year, T13 in ’09, 6th in ’07. Coming off of a T17 at the Wyndham over a month ago.

Kevin Kisner
First time here. last 4 starts; 29th last week, 62 at Soboba, 5th at Mylan, T21 at Knoxville.

Tiger Woods
New caddy. New course record and a sight to get back into form for life and the President’s Cup.

Paul Casey
Casey’s last 4 tournaments were all state-side (Wyndham/PGA/WGC Bridgestone/Canadian Open). CUT at Canadian Open and 47, 72 and 45 at the others. Let’s hope Casey has worked on his game and is ready to ball.

Joseph Bramlett
Bramlett played here last year as an amateur and missed the cut. He’s shot 66 in his last two tournaments, but any experience is good for the rookie.

Kevin Tway
Young Tway has made 1 cut in his  last 4 events, but that made cut consisted of 4 rounds in the 60′s on the Nationwide Tour. First time here.

David Hearn
recent finishes – 5th at JT Shriner, 6th Boise Open
7 of last 8 rounds in the 60s. First time here.

Patrick Cantlay
recent finishes – 2-1-1 at Walker Cup, 2nd at US Amateur Match Play, 9th Canadian Open, T20 AT&T National, T24 Travelers, T21 US Open
I’m in love with this kid. No homo.

Billy Horschel
recent finishes –  16th JT Shriners, 6th Boise Open, T30 Wyndham, T10 Reno-Tahoe
Same story as Hearn, really. Both playing well, both first timers here.

Kevin Na
recent finishes –  1st JT Shriners
2 top 10s in his last 4. Cut here in ’08 and T61 in ’07. Doesn’t have great history in following up on his Top 10s

Chris Stroud
Best finishes – 8th in ’09, 29th in ’08, 12th in ’07
Last start was a T22 at the BMW Championship. Made the cut at the first 3 playoff events

Rocco Mediate
Best finishes – 1st in ’10, 13th in ’09, 29th in ’08
57th last week at JT Shriners.

Pat Perez
Best finishes – 38th in ’10, 13th in ’09, 7th in ’08, 6th in ’07
Last start was 1 month ago at the Deutsche Bank with a T61.

Tim Herron
Best finishes – 13th in ’10 and ’09
Coming off of a 5th at JT Shriners. Made all 4 cuts at this event. Made 3 of past 4 cuts on Tour. (cut at Barclays)

Alan :: Chad Campbell, Louis Oosthuizen, Cameron Tringale and Tiger Woods
Bob :: Steve Elkington, Tommy Gainey, Pat Perez and Justin Leonard
Damian :: Tim Herron, Patrick Cantlay, Paul Casey and Tiger Woods

There’s a lot of sleepers I would like to take, but I basically took 4. It seems weird that Casey and Woods are sleepers, but Casey has probably had one of the worst years of his careers if you take away his 1 win in Europe. I’m hoping he bounces back here. I’d like to give Levin/Oosthuizen/Crane and Molder a shot, but I’m going with dogs this week.

Crane would be my 5th. Has 2 Top 20′s in his last starts here and he’s coming off of a Top 10 last week.  Heck, I may end up switching them.

Fall Series Fantasy Four Recap :: JT Shriners Hospital for Children Open

Kevin Na, what’s good? Good win for Na. I’m sure a few of you were thinking about taking him. For me, I was hoping to take him in my salary league for the 2012 season, so I was hoping Watney got the win.

Good for Na, though.

CONTEST – Fall Series Fantasy Four :: JT Shriners Hospitals for Children Open

Welcome to another Fall Series Fantasy Four! Below are the guidelines;

Contest Guidelines
Hello and welcome to the NG Nation Fall Series Fantasy Four contest (wordy, I know). I would just like to run through the official rules before we get started on this 4 week contest.

1. CHOOSE YOUR FANTASY FOUR: EACH WEEK, pick four golfers who you think will be the high finishers for the week. ONE OF YOUR PICKS MUST BE A NIKE ATHLETE (unless there is only 1 in the field).

2. ENTRIES: Submit your Final Four in a comment below the NG Nation Fantasy Four post for that week. To be eligible for that week’s points, all entries/comments must be posted BY MIDNIGHT PST THE NIGHT BEFORE THE FIRST ROUND OF EACH TOURNAMENT (Wednesday by Midnight, PST). That means you need to come to NGNation.com each week and submit your 4 golfers in the respective Fantasy Four post.

One entry per person (email address and/or computer IP address) per week, multiple entries will be disqualified (please be honest, we’re trying to have fun here). To see when each event post is live, check back here on ngnation.com or follow the NG Nation Staff on Twitter!

3. POINTS: Points are allotted as follows:

Win = 10 points
Top 10’s = 5 points each
Top 25’s = 2 points each
MC’s = 0 points each

4. PRIZES: The top three finishers will win a pair of Nike Golf shoes (shoe models TBD). Prizes courtesy of Nike Golf.

5. EVENTS: The contest will run over the 4 Fall Series events and at the conclusion of these tournaments the winner will be announced in the weekly Fantasy Four Recap post. The events are as follows (starting this week):

Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospital Open
Frys.com Open
The McGladrey Classic
Children’s Miracle Network Classic

6. RELEASE: By entering this contest you agree to release and hold harmless NG Nation from any and all liability. In other words, we’re trying to have fun here, so please don’t sue us.

Big thanks to Nike Golf for providing the prizes. Now let’s get week one started!

There’s some decent names in the field this week, so it should be a fun one! The fall series this year is only 4 events and the order is mixed up. We do have a handful of Nike athletes this week, so that’s never a bad thing.

Stephen Ames
Ames has only played 1 event in the past 2 months. That was a T50 at the Reno-Tahoe Open. WD here last year after an opening round 66.

Joseph Bramlett
Bramlett’s last 3 PGA events were all made cuts. The best of which was a T25 at the Reno-Tahoe. Good for him! The fall series will be great for him to get experience.

Kevin Kisner
Kisner’s last 3 events were on the Nationwide Tour. He made 3 cuts, had 1 Top 10 and 2 Top 25s.

Carl Pettersson
CPetts showed up for the FedEx Cup Playoffs. After a T18 and T4 at the Greenbrier and Wyndham pushed him up the standings, he had a T37, T32 and a T16 in the Playoffs. Played here in 2009 and posted a T67.

Jhonattan Vegas
Vegas has made 9 straight made cuts, playing in 3/4 FedEx Cup events.

Chez Reavie
recent finishes – T26 TOUR Champ, 8th BMW, 2nd Deutsche Bank, CUT Barlcays, 9th Wyndham
Cut here in ’09, made cut here in ’08.

John Mallinger
recent finishes – 4 straight Top 10s on the NWide, T12 Wyndham
Hottest player on the Nationwide. Cut here last year, but 3rd in ’08.

Troy Merritt
recent finishes –  T11 Soboba, T11 Boise Open
T50 here last year and he’s been playing well on the NWide.

Nick Watney
recent finishes –  T26 TOUR Champ, T22 BMW, T61 Deutsche Bank, T10 Barclays
6 straight cuts. 6th here last year. Not another 6! 666!

Ryan Moore
Best finishes – 7th in ’09, T28 in ’08
T16 at BMW and T10 at Barclays. Good stuff, bro.

Martin Laird
Best finishes – 2nd in ’10, 1st in ’10
Best record here, coming off of a T12 at the BMW

Jonathan Byrd
Best finishes – 1st in ’10
1st last year, but cut in ’09 and ’08.

Chad Campbell
Best finishes – 28th in ’10, 2nd in ’09, 3rd in ’08
7 straight made cuts, including a Top 10 at the British Open.

Alan :: Ryan Moore, Jeff Overton, Nick Watney and Carl Pettersson
Bob :: Tommy Gainey, Kyle Stanley, Nick Watney and Jhonattan Vegas
Damian :: Ryan Moore, Martin Laird, Nick Watney and Jhonattan Vegas

Some good selection this week. I’m looking forward to some good picks!
