Ben R keeps his overall lead, while Meredith snags the Month 7 lead.

Fantasy Four Recap :: AT&T National

Boom city.

Watney went wild, much to everyone’s delight. Simpson, Scott and Choi all get Top 10′s for a high scoring week.

Last week was the lowest scoring, this week was the highest.

  • Entries :: 35
  • Unique Golfers ::  24
  • Most Popular Nike Pick :: Carl Pettersson (22 selections, T34)
  • Highest Nike Finish :: Carl Pettersson
  • Most Popular Non-Nike Pick :: Nick Watney (25 selections, 1st)

It’s the start of a new month and boy, we’re off to a hot start. Two fine fellows tied for the dinner this week thanks to Watney and two other Top 10′s for 31 points.

Lendell :: Nick Watney (1), K.J. Choi (2), Jeff Overton (T3) and Carl Pettersson (T34)
Stephen Vang ::
Nick Watney (1), K.J. Choi (2), Webb Simpson (T8) and Anthony Kim (CUT)

Ben R keeps his overall lead.

As always, let me know if you find any mistakes.

Fantasy Four Recap :: Travelers Championship and Month 6 Winner

3 people would have had Ryan Moore for the win, potentially. However, an 18th hole bogey by Mr. Moore ruined all chances for the playoff.

This may have been the lowest scoring week of all time.

  • Entries :: 39
  • Unique Golfers ::  29
  • Most Popular Nike Pick :: Lucas Glover (17 selections, CUT)
  • Highest Nike Finish :: Carl Pettersson (10 selections, T24)
  • Most Popular Non-Nike Pick :: Bubba Watson (23 selections, T38)
  • Rare (and Good) Picks :: Ryan Moore (3 selections, T2)
  • Average Points :: 3.38 (7.62 last week)

We have a change in the Overall and Month 6 standings. However, let’s get to the weekly winner first!

Mosher :: Ryan Moore (T2), David Toms (T17), Brandt Snedeker (T24) and Carl Pettersson (T24)

Month 6 Winner :: Paul Manbeck

Paul, we’ll be in touch!

New overall leader, Ben R aka King of the Last Minute Pick! Maybe there’s a method to his madness!

As always, let me know if you find any mistakes.

Next week, Tiger’s tourney. Tiger-less.

Fantasy Four Recap :: 2011 U.S. Open

I had Rory but switched him out last minute to Ryan Moore. Big mistake!

What a US Open. I’m impressed with Westwood, Schwartzel and Day. I wish that Kuchar held on for a Top 10, but it was actually a somewhat low scoring event in terms of the Fantasy Four.

We only had 4 people with McIlroy, so the average points is quite low.

  • Entries :: 39 (up from 33!)
  • Unique Golfers ::  26
  • Most Popular Nike Pick :: Stewart Cink (12 selections, CUT)
  • Highest Nike Finish :: Charl Schwartzel (9 selections, T9)
  • Most Popular Non-Nike Pick :: Luke Donald (21 selections, T45)
  • Rare (and Good) Picks :: Rory McIlroy (4 selections, 1st), Jason Day (1 selection, 2nd)
  • Average Points :: 7.62

Low scoring week, but some big moves were made with such a low average! I think we matched our highest winning score with 31 points (1 win, 3 Top 25s).  Tony Raines rolls up BIG TIME.

Tony Raines :: Rory McIlroy (1st), Jason Day (2nd), Charl Schwartzel (T9) and Hunter Mahan (CUT)

Tony jumps into a tie for 1st in the monthly standings. He also jumps up 17 spots in the 2nd Half Standings into a tie for 11th.

NGN Alan, Daryl Sanders and Mosher also picked Young Rory McIlroy and made some moves in the standings.

As always, let me know if you find any mistakes.

Fantasy Four Recap :: St. Jude Classic

I’m back with a full recap, folks! I have to say, I think Westwood wasn’t going for the win. I think he wanted to test his game for the US Open. It was good to see Villegas close strong.  Personally, I wasn’t thrilled with the finish, and as you can tell by the Fantasy Four picks with only 22 unique golfers. Only 2 Top 10 golfers were selected (probably both out of necessity) and they were both Nike Golfers.

  • Entries :: 33
  • Unique Golfers ::  22
  • Most Popular Nike Pick :: Anthony Kim (20 selections, CUT)
  • Highest Nike Finish :: Carl Pettersson and Stephen Ames (T8)
  • Most Popular Non-Nike Pick :: Lee Westwood (27 selections, T11)
  • Rare (and Good) Picks :: Pettersson (6 selections, T8) and Ames (3 selections, T8)
  • Average Points :: 3.87

Low scoring week, but some big moves were made with such a low average! 4 way tie for the chicken dinner. 11 points was good enough for a share of the dinner.

Lendell :: Carl Pettersson (T8), Lee Westwood (T11), Brandt Snedeker (T15) and David Toms (CUT)
NGN Bob :: Carl Pettersson (T8), Lee Westwood (T11), Jonathan Byrd (T25) and John Senden (69)
Shane Harms and Todd Williams :: Carl Pettersson (T8), Lee Westwood (T11), Jonathan Byrd (T25) and David Toms (CUT)

No big overall changes..Shane Harms and NGN Bob made the biggest moves in the overall standings.

As always, let me know if you find any mistakes.

Big week on NGNation next week for the US Open! Stay tuned!

Fantasy Four Recap :: the Memorial

This is about as much of an update as I can do..

The favourites did well, but the Watney WD hurt a lot of folks. 6 people picked Stricker.

chicken dinners to Jane Snyder and Paul Manbeck, new points record I think with 31 points (1 win, 3 Top 10s).

sorry for the later update

Fantasy Four Recap :: Byron Nelson and Month 5 Results

That was a really fun event to watch on Saturday and Sunday. Sure, most people wanted Kuchar to pull out the win (myself included), but on a week where nothing really changed, it was fun to watch Bradley and Palmer in the playoff.

The favourites (Watney, Kuchar, Day) did very well and it was a high scoring week.

  • Entries :: 36
  • Unique Golfers ::  22
  • Most Popular Nike Pick :: Carl Pettersson (20 selections, T40)
  • Highest Nike Finish :: CPetts
  • Most Popular Non-Nike Pick :: Jason Day (19 selections, 5th)  - 2nd week in a row
  • Rare (and Good) Picks :: Jeff Overton and Arjun Atwal (1 selection, T8)
  • Average Points :: 9.83 (11.14 last week)

Consensus Fantasy Four (4 most popular picks) :: Carl Pettersson (T40), Jason Day (5th), K.J. Choi (T40) and Matt Kuchar (T6)

3 people tied for this week’s dinner, but Garry Moore holds on wins Month 5 and gets 1 dozen Nike ONE Vapor Speeds (check out our review here >>)

Below are the 3 winners for this event – all with 16 points;

Meredith Wang – Jason Day, Kuchar, DJ and CPetts
NGN Damian – Watney, Kuchar, Gay and AK
Steve Noel – Jason Day, Watney, DJ and CPetts

However, a lot of people had 14 points (Two top 10′s), including Garry Moore so there wasn’t a lot of movement in the standings.

As always, let me know if you find any mistakes.

Here are the winners thus far;

Month 1 – W.P. McCray
Month 2 – option720
Month 3 – Alarick Tavares
Month 4 – Meredith Wang
Mid-Season – M. Murphy
Month 5 – Garry Moore

Garry, we’ll be emailing you soon! Congrats.

Everyone, keep on playing. Each month there’s a prize and then a 2nd half overall winner that gets an SQ Machspeed Black!

They all had 26 points. Big time! However, Garry Moore keeps the monthly lead, he had 24 points and wins in back to back weeks. Lots of movement this week, so check it out below!

As always, let me know if you find any mistakes.

Fantasy Four Recap :: The Players Championship

I know right away I’m going to get flack for the “WD” pick. The WD pick was originated as a ‘backup’ in case one of your 4 golfer’s drops out BEFORE the deadline. Such as Tim Clark and Stricker at the Zurich. Also, Tim Clark is entered in this week’s Crowne Plaza, but will probably drop out before the event starts. The WD isn’t anywhere in the actual guidelines and was started by one of our contestants who just wanted to cover himself in case he didn’t have time to check his picks on Wednesday night. Thus, your WD pick does not count if the golfer WDs during the event.

Two new contestants this week, bringing the total number of contests over the last 5 months to 58! That’s good.

The leaderboard was a juicy one all week. I would have loved to see it come down to Donald and Watney, but I was happy with K.J. “Bok” Choi getting the win. Even though most people were hoping Toms would win, since 6 people picked Choi this week.

  • Entries :: 42 (up 8 from last week!)
  • Unique Golfers ::  35 (up 11 from last week)
  • Most Popular Nike Pick :: Tiger Woods (20 selections, WD)
  • Highest Nike Finish :: Stewart Cink (3 selections, T19)
  • Most Popular Non-Nike Pick :: Luke Donald (25 selections, T4)
  • Rare (and Good) Picks :: K.J. Choi (6 selections, 1st), Nick Watney (1 selection, T4), Jason Day (4 selections, T6), Hunter Mahan (1 selection, T6)
  • Average Points :: 8.07 (9.13 last week)

Consensus Fantasy Four (4 most popular picks) :: Luke Donald (T4), Tiger Woods (WD), Ben Crane (T45), Phil Mickelson (T33) = 7 points

6 people picked Choi, but there’s a 5-way tie for the dinner.

Choi + Donald was a popular pick, but let’s look at the teams of the 5 winners.

Garry Moore :: K.J. Choi (1), Jason Day (T6), Tiger Woods (WD) and Adam Scott (CUT)
Jane Snyder :: K.J. Choi (1), Luke Donald (T4), Lucas Glover (T50) and Rickie Fowler (CUT)
L Schrader :: K.J. Choi (1), Luke Donald (T4), Lucas Glover (T50) and Jim Furyk (CUT)
Stephen Vang :: K.J. Choi (1), Luke Donald (T4), Tiger Woods (WD) and Kevin Na (CUT)
W.P. McCray :: K.J. Choi (1), Luke Donald (T4), Charl Schwartzel (T26) and Matt Kuchar (T54)

In a tie-break, W.P. gets it because he had 0 MCs. However, he has the Month 1 lead now.  W.P. won the first month (of the first half) of the 2011 Fantasy Four, also.

Lots of movement this week, so check it out below!

As always, let me know if you find any mistakes.
